We welcome Pierre-Yves Le-Meur, who joins us on an internship from Ensta Bretagne – an Engineering School in Brest, Northern France.

Learning about Robotics

Pierre-Yves is on a 3-month placement learning about robotics and hydrographic surveying using the Unmanned Survey Solutions MKI Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). He has already been out conducting small hydrographic surveys with the Swathe Services team using the MKI USV with Single Beam Echo Sounder technology.

He says: “I wanted to come to Swathe Services because it is a small team with a commitment to marine innovation using robotics, and I wanted to see how things worked in a smaller company. I have done some surveying before in Brest Harbour using SBES systems and wanted to do more.” He also loves Cornwall and its beautiful landscape, and surfing.

Pierre-Yves is in the final year of his Hydrographic Surveying degree at the University in Brest and will be contracted to work for the Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service in France, on completion of his studies.
